The first graders have been working hard writing clear step by step instructions in their "How To" pieces. Today they celebrated their writing by sharing their published pieces and trying out friend's directions. Great job first graders!

Last week we began a science unit on matter. Our class learned about solids and participated in a solids scavenger hunt. Today we looked at a different state of matter--liquids.
The first graders rotated through a variety of stations learning about the different properties of liquids. Which has more viscosity, water or oil? Do liquids have different weights? Can a short wide jar hold the same volume of water as a tall skinny jar? You will have to ask your first grader to find out! A few years ago, a now retired staff member of Forest Glen, Ms. Marchese rewrote the lyrics to Jingle Bells to support the Green Bay Packers. Please enjoy a short video of the kids cheering on the Pack!
Thank you to everyone for coming in and helping make our gingerbread house decorating a success and a fun event for your child. Enjoy the photos and have a wonderful winter break! Turkey day is almost here! The first graders worked hard to disguise their plump and perky turkeys so they wouldn't get eaten on Thanksgiving. Tomorrow they will be putting the finishing touches on a book about the turkey's adventure so they can bring it home to share on Thanksgiving. You can also click on here to listen to a song about how the first graders plan to save their turkeys. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Last Friday marked the end of the first quarter. To celebrate all of our hard work, PTO sponsored a Fall Festival. A special thank you to PTO and the parents that were able to attend. The kids had a great time! |
