Autumn Sounds
Ready to Fly
A Day in the Pumpkin Patch
That Time of Year
Welcome to Mrs. Ely's class web site. Please feel free to visit any time as we are always updating and making changes. I hope you enjoy your visit.
The first graders have spent the last two weeks practicing plays. Plays are a great way for kids to practice fluent reading while building confidence speaking in front of people. Below you will see the list of plays the first graders performed. Each title is linked to a recording of the play. Enjoy!

In math we have shifted from adding numbers to subtracting them. To practice this, the kids learned a new game called SNAP. Games are a great way to build fact fluency with your child. If you are interested in playing this game with your child, click on the link below: Subtraction SNAP! This afternoon we reflected on things we saw at the pond yesterday. Each student used watercolors and construction paper to create their own mini-pond. We also started creating short poems about the organisms we saw at the pond. We had a wonderful field trip to Barkhausen today! Enjoy the photos! Our class explored microscopic life in the pond today. These are organisms so small you can't see them with the human eye. If you want to explore this site further with your child and read about these organisms in greater detail, you can click on the link below.

The students participated in a few rounds of Bingo and enjoyed a bag of popcorn. Keep up the great work first graders!! |
